Gertrude Arquillo obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Santo Tomas, where she served as the Vice President of UST’s university-wide literary organization, the Thomasian Writers Guild. She was a technical writer for Thomasian Engineer—the official publication of UST Faculty of Engineering. Since 2012, she has been engaged as a licensed engineer for both private and government projects in earthworks, construction, retrofitting, and structural demolition of buildings and powerplants. She also has years of administrative experience in bidding for government procurement of infrastructure projects.
She earned her Juris Doctor from the De La Salle University College of Law. In AY 2020-2021, she was the President of the DLSU Law Moot and Debate Society, wherein she pioneered several programs to enhance membership development and to solidify alumni support. She has represented DLSU Law in international and domestic competitions such as the Willem C. Vis Commercial Arbitration Moot, the Stetson Environmental Moot, and the Conflicts of Law Debate. In 2019, she was the Subject Head of the Special Penal Laws team in the Lasallian Commission on Bar Operations. In her graduating year, she was a rapporteur for the 2021 TRILA (Teaching and Researching International Law in Asia) conference.
